Abu Dhabi Review

Pierre talks us through his Abu Dhabi weekend…

Free Practice

"Overall, it's been a positive and productive day. We managed to have two trouble-free practice sessions and did plenty of laps, which meant we were able to complete the program as we wanted, which is great. During this afternoon's FP2, I felt good on the supersofts, but then on the ultra we didn't manage to improve, which means we need to work on the tyres and try and improve this. Having said that, there are also many positive aspects to take from today so, all in all, a good start to the weekend and hopefully we can make a step forward tomorrow for qualifying."

Qualifying

"My qualifying lap was good and I feel happy about it because I managed to put everything together, it was a decent lap... The only thing I'm not super happy about is the performance, of course – to qualify only 17th is not what we want to see and it's a bit frustrating not to be fighting for higher positions. Having said that, I think we made the most out of the potential we had today and that's important. What I really wish for now is that we hold on to sixth position in the Championship tomorrow – it's going to be a difficult task, but nothing's impossible! We'll keep pushing and see where we end up!"

Grand Prix

"I'm really disappointed with the fact of not being able to keep sixth place in the Championship... This was the target – we knew it would be tough, but in the end it wasn't possible. We struggled a lot in today's race, it's been a really tough day and I'm not satisfied with I did. I pushed too much and did a mistake which cost me a lot of time. It's frustrating to end the season like this and I feel sorry for the team for not having achieved the target. On the positive, these last races with Toro Rosso have been very useful for me to gain plenty of experience and this will definitely help me to start next year on the right foot. I'm already looking forward to 2018."
