Pierre Promoted to Red Bull for 2019 Season

22 year old French Formula One Driver, Pierre Gasly will join Aston Martin Red Bull Racing for the forthcoming 2019 season. Lining up alongside fellow Red Bull Junior Programme alumni, Max Verstappen, Pierre joins the team for what’s set to be an dynamic young line up for the 4-time Constructors Championship winning team.

After first catching the eye of Red Bull early in his career, Pierre joined the Red Bull Junior Team in 2013. With support from the programme, Pierre has proven himself to be an exciting young talent with great success.

Not even a year ago the 2016 GP2 Champion, was given his first full taste of Formula 1, making his race debut at the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix. After showcasing his speed and talent, he continued to a full season seat with Scuderia Toro Rosso for 2018.

Impressing from the get go and coming tantalising close to a podium finish in only his second race with Toro Rosso, it has been a strong first season for the Frenchman.

Commenting on the next stage in his career:

"I am very happy to join Aston Martin-Red Bull for the 2019 season, it is a dream come true. It’s been my goal since I joined the Red Bull Junior Team in 2013.

This incredible opportunity is a big step towards my goal of winning Grand Prix’s and becoming a World Champion. It's really exceptional to experience moments like this, and I feel ready to take up the challenge.

I would like to thank Dietrich Mateschitz, Helmut Marko and Christian Horner for their trust since my debut and for this opportunity. I would also like to thank Franz Tost and the Scuderia Toro Rosso team for showing me my potential since my F1 debut. I hope to continue my training with them and bring them the maximum result until the end of the year."
Christian Horner, Red Bull Team Principal added:
“Since Pierre first stepped into a Formula One seat with Scuderia Toro Rosso less than a year ago he has proved the undoubted talent that Red Bull has nurtured since his early career. His stellar performances this year at the Honda-powered team, in only his first full season in Formula One, have only enhanced his reputation as one of the most exciting young drivers in motorsport and we look forward to Pierre bringing his speed, skill and attitude to the Team in 2019. While our immediate focus remains fully on achieving our best result in the 2018 World Championship, we look forward to competing in 2019 with Max and Pierre at the wheel of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing.”
