Austria GP - Pierre's Debrief

- Categories : Default

With a gearbox change before the weekend, Pierre started the weekend with solid results in free practice, despite the car being unstable due to the cooler conditions at the Red Bull Ring.On Saturday, Pierre once again showed his excellent pace in qualifying with a P6 just behind the Mercedes and Red Bulls; for the seventh time, Pierre placed in the TOP 6 in qualifying, an impressive statistic.

"I feel like every weekend we qualify in a similar position and I'm really happy with that, sixth place is another good performance for us, so today was a good day. I wasn't as comfortable in the car this weekend for one reason or another, so going into qualifying we had a bit of an unknown, so I'm really pleased that we managed to make it work this afternoon. We're the first cars to start in Softs tomorrow, so strategy will certainly be the key to the race. We've shown that the car has the pace, so I'm confident."

Thanks to a smart race, Pierre was the only one, with a two pit stop strategy, to be in the point and fighting with the top teams. Unlike last Sunday, Pierre had a smooth start with his soft tyres and was 6ᵉ at the time of his first pit stop. With traffic during the second run, Pierre pitted again to put on a second set of fresh hard tyres. With an excellent final run, Pierre joined the battle at the front for sixth place.

Pierre finished the race in 9th position. "Starting with softs, it was more complicated than expected, with a lot of degradation. We got stuck in traffic during the second stint and lost time. The last run was very good. I came back very strongly on Charles and Daniel. Unfortunately, we weren't missing much. But we can be satisfied, because the drivers who had the same strategy as us finished a long way off.
