GP Monaco - Pierre's Debrief

- Categories : Default

Always in the top 10 during the weekend's free practice sessions, Pierre built up a relationship of trust with his single-seater by putting in one good performance after another and gradually increasing his pace. During the most important qualifying session of the year, Pierre performed brilliantly throughout the three sessions, setting an excellent lap in Q3 to secure 6th place, ahead of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes, after a red flag on his second attempt caused the session to end.

"I'm extremely happy with my qualifying, I think we did the best we could with the car we had while others didn't maximise their lap, and to qualify where we are today is definitely a huge achievement. I'm very pleased with everyone. The work that the team did, to give me such a strong car when it mattered, I think that was one of my best laps of the weekend and I'm so happy that it all came together today in Q3. "

On Sunday, Pierre made a solid start to the race, securing his position ahead of Lewis Hamilton. With a steady pace, Pierre maintained his position until his pit stop. With a different strategy, Vettel managed to overcut Pierre by winning P5 after a fierce duel at the exit of the pitlane. Thanks to an impeccable second run, the Frenchman managed to hold off the Mercedes of the seven-time world champion. Pierre crossed the finish line in sixth place.

I'm very happy to finish sixth," he said. "We kept Lewis for 78 laps, and I got sandwiched between a four-time world champion and a seven-time world champion, so you can't be disappointed with a performance like that.
