From Japan, where he is racing at Suzuka this weekend, the 26-year-old French driver has announced that he is taking an important step in his career and joining the BWT Alpine F1 team. The team is currently fifth in the Constructors' World Championship and is making clear progress along its '100 Grand Prix' road-map to reach the front and fight for victories and titles. This represents an important step in Pierre's career and will enable him to combine his experience, now gained over 6 years in Formula 1, with the know-how of Equipe Alpine to create an exciting partnership.

This change of team also marks the end of the RedBull and AlphaTauri years for Pierre. It was 9 years ago that RedBull spotted Pierre and decided to support him through the young drivers' categories. After much success in the Promotional Formulas, where Pierre finished Champion or Vice-Champion in all the categories in which he raced, RedBull gave him access to F1 with the ToroRosso team from the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix. The joint adventure in Formula 1 continued for 6 seasons, with several podium finishes including a memorable victory at Monza in 2020, the first for the team for 12 years, and the first for a French driver for 24 years.

Pierre Gasly"I'm delighted to be joining the Alpine family and starting a new chapter in my Formula 1 career. Driving for a French team is something very special. I know Alpine's strengths, having raced against their cars in previous years, and clearly their progress and ambitions are impressive."

I'd like to thank RedBull, as this is the end of a 9-year adventure together. They believed in me very early on and supported me all the way to F1. It's thanks to their trust that I've become the driver I am today, and what we've achieved with AlphaTauri over the last few years will remain very special to me.

Looking ahead, I want to give my all and use all my experience to fight for podiums and ultimately contribute to Alpine's fight for Championships."
