US GP - Pierre's Debriefing

- Categoria: Default

FP1, 1:36,611, P6.

FP2, 1:36,242, P12

Pierre: "It's been quite a difficult afternoon for us. We can't get the car to work like it does at other circuits, so we have a lot of work to do before tomorrow. I think it's the most difficult FP2 we've had this season. It's very strange because so far we've been competitive everywhere, but it was very difficult here in Austin today. We'll work hard tonight, I'm sure we definitely have more pace to find, and I'm convinced we can be more competitive in qualifying."

FP3, 1:35.398, P8

Qualifying, (Q1) 1:34.567, (Q2) 1:34.583, (Q3) 1:34.118, P9

Pierre once again reached Q3, this time alongside team-mate Yuki Tsunoda as Scuderia AlphaTauri got off to a very good start in Austin. Pierre finished qualifying in P9.

Pierre ahead of Sunday's race: "I think we can be satisfied today, we have the four best teams ahead of us, so we're off to a good start. Friday was a bit more difficult than expected, but we made some good improvements for today and with Valtteri's penalty, we'll be in 8th position. It's good that we managed to qualify with the mediums, to give us the best option tomorrow, but I think it's going to be very tight here with the tyres, as this track is very restrictive for them. We have a lot of strategy options available to us, so we'll have to look at all the possibilities tonight and choose the best option for tomorrow."

Pierre started from 8th position on race day following a penalty for Valterri Bottas.

As the saying goes, "everything's bigger in Texas", and this Grand Prix was no different. The race kicked off with a huge ceremony. Over 400,000 fans were in attendance this weekend. The heat, the music and the American stars all contributed to creating a unique atmosphere.

The race started well, with Valtteri Bottas overtaking the Mercedes, but it wasn't to be this time that the US Grand Prix was going to smile on Pierre. His car suffered a suspension problem on lap 15, forcing him to retire to the pits.

Pierre after the race: "Unfortunately, we had a suspension problem today, which forced us to retire the car. At the moment, we don't know the real cause, so we'll have to leave and investigate it. It's very frustrating because we know that every point counts at this stage of our midfield battle. It would have been really nice to see this race through to the end, because the atmosphere has been incredible this weekend, right from the start, so it's a shame not to see the chequered flag."
